Oil Warning

Hi,

Hopefully somebody will know the answer to this....

My ML320 has gone past it's service point and will be getting serviced in the New Year at the factory.

Until then my wife and I have to drive the car, however when ever I turn on the ignition it bleeps and tells me the service was due 1000 Km ago.

More worrying is that from time to time there is an "OIL HI" warning flashing on my dashboard where the Kilometerage is normally shown.

I have not added any oil since I collected 16,000 Km ago. At the suggestion of someone I have also checked to ensure that there is no water getting into the system.

Is this purely a warning ???? With luck that is all it is & hopefully this will be OK til after the New Year.

All ideas / suggestions appreciated.

Hi Gordon,

It is a warning as it says the oil level is high. Just check the oil & see if it is indeed above the upper limit. If it is not excessive. Don't worry about & report to your dealer at the next service.

high oil

check oil level on dip stick. this model has had trouble with oil level sensors it is also possible that the insrument cluster is not coded correctly. Believe the dipstick the oil should be about 3mm below max when cold
