Just wondering if any of you electrical wizards on here could help me?
The hands free in my C250 on a stalk to left of center console looks as though it may have been fitted when the car was newish. It has Mic to right of drivers sunshade, a box down by passenger footwell.

On rear of holder on stalk. NOKIA TYPE MCH-8 CD10 / 469
Did usual google etc searches only came up with it was for a Nokia 2110 from mid nineties
Questions
1/ Can it be converted to newer phones?
2/ Any idea whether 2110 was superceded by another newer version with same connection?
3/ Did the sound come through the stereo or the box in passenger footwell?
4/ Would it be possible to remove the actual handsfree from stalk and rewire a newer handsfree?
Thanks in advance
Barry

It cannot be converted, although the mic connections are the same as the newer nokia kits pls don't use it as the mic aduio is not compaitble with ther newer kits.
Your only real option is to remove it and replace with a new kit. There are quite a few threads running at the moment on handsfree kits.

Thanks for quick reply BC , read through the newer posts on handsfree seems most are newer models than mine.
Just seems a shame that the one fitted in my car is useless as it was done really well, all wires hidden and nice little ariel on back wing. Pity I couldnt just wire up a newer holder.;)

I have 2 or 3 of the MCH-8 kits and quote a few CARK 91 kits lying around, moving on to the CK7W now that is the way of the world

Blobcat there is an unused 2146 on Ebay

Do you think this would fit onto the holder?
It looks the same as an 2110

Not quite the same, although never seen one in the flesh to know for sure. 2146 used the CARK-10 kit which is the same as the 2110 so it may work. I personally would not bother though as it is a rally old kit and phone now.
I would find a cheap 6310 phone and CARK 91 kit

Thanks for that. The guy selling the 2146 only lives up the coast from me, at the moment its only £3 if it doesnt go much over that I may buy it just to try it . Using the mobile in car isnt a priority for me just thought if its there why not use it.
