Hello all, just wondering if the phone holder in my 99 ML can be updated to suit my newish Nokia mobile, not much interest in mobiles, dont even know what model I have but I know the holder is too big for it, is there an adapter I can fit to suit my one, rather than stripping out the whole kit?
Thanks
Mike

Is it an MB kit or a Nokia one? If you're not sure, post a photo.
We'll also need to know what phone it fits and what phone you want to use.
Chances are there isn't a converter, but some converters do exist so it's worth doing the check.

Thought my post was a bit vague, bit hung over a the time JB. Yes a pic would help wouldnt it, now where did I put that flaming camera:confused: . Yes I will post one before the weekend is out, I keep putting replies of posting pics but its either the car is at a different place to the camera, I forgot about the post completely, or my wife has stowed it in the bottom of a wardrobe beneath 50 pairs of shoes without knowing.

I've got the same problem, except I have a '51 ML with a factory fitted phone kit for a Siemens phone, and I have a Nokia 1100. I am not very mobile phone savvy, and the phone only cost around a tenner; however, I would like to be able to use it legally whilst driving, without having to fork out a fortune. The missus has a different phone, so a new cradle is not a complete solution.

The suggestions put to me were:- change the phone to suit the car kit (take a step back in time, and watch it go even more out of date), get a cradle adaptor for your current phone (which will also become obselete), or get a bluetooth phone + kit (which is wireless, and apart from that I haven't got a clue what this implies!).

Sorry, didn't want to hijack this thread, but some impartial advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Have a look at the Parrott (Bluetooth only but one of the best at that) or the Nokia CK7W if you want the option of a Nokia cradle as well as bluetooth.
Both around £250 fitted - £150 if you know which end of a screwdriver to hold.

That is a Cark91 and takes a 6310, you can get replacement cradles from Dashmount so you can keep the car kit but use a newer Nokia. You can check on what cradle will work on their site dasmount.co.uk. Although personally I was not that happy with the replacement cradles and changed the fir to a CK-7W instead.

Or you could change your mobile for a 6310i which would be the best of all worlds - a great phone and a great car kit. Though the CK-7W is pretty good in Bluetooth mode

The list gives you the Nokia numbers, most of the models like the 6150,6210 can be picked up on Ebay for around £20

I too could not care less about the phone as long as it works, I use a 6210 in the SL and a CARK 91 in the V70R

I loved my Nokia 3310, it looks like yours, nice and small, and all of my mates tease me,,,,,,, how can you send a text on that, they say. I do not want to send a text and never will.

Hi Malcolm,

Looks like the MB world meet was a success! Great Photos!

I picked up the beast on Friday ...cant stop driving round in it thanks for the advice in my hours of need!

So far so good, I do have a small query relating to this thread...like you I have the prewired phone is it simply a case of getting hold of a Nokia 6210 and plugging it in? I'm not that phone literate so hoping its a simple as that!

Regards
(and thanks again for all the advice)

So pleased that you have it, yes, just get a phone on Ebay for around £20.

If the phone is locked to Orange they can be unlocked for £10.

Thats what I did and others. I will like to hear moere about the car later.

Lovely thanks I'm hunting on Ebay now.

I thought my Audi A6 was a nice solid car but the SL is in a different league.

I was very interested in the photos of your car, in the same way my father in law described mine "it's a handsome vehicle"!!!!:D

I've not had the pleasure of a roof down cruise as yet and as I get more used to it I will let you know how its going.

Thanks
