The rubber seals at the door are so old and harden that when the sun hits its peak (I live in Malaysia), the seals will just pop out slightly. The rubber strip looks grey and hard. Are there any tips to deal with these?

Buy new seals or refurbish the rubber (if theres a way)...???

My boot compartment has a leak because its always damp and watery at some places. Any hope for rubber seals in W124?

The show "A Car is Born" is superb in Discovery but I often wonder are those rubber available for old cars? and are they expensive?

All car rubbers are expensive, biggest problem is that it starts decomposing as soon is it is in the air, One of the only things that helps is to rub Silicon into it, will seal it and help a little

Different types of rubber for different applications.

There are benefits associated with each type of rubber composite - neoprene, silicone, nitrile, butyl and so on. For example, silicone rubber is elastic at low temperatures, and nitrile is stronger at high temperatures.

Even when vulcanised, the cross-bonding in the structure can be affected by factors such as heat and ultravoilet light.
Blackened rubber is more resistant to this, but each hot/cold cycle will still do some damage, and in permanently hot conditions it will of course eventually lose it's elasticity.

Plenty of lubricant/protectant will help!

The rubber seals on the bottoms of the four electric windows on my W210 have perished and cracked beyond any hope of repair using the products mentioned. How easy is it to replace them?
Also, is it likely that water leaking into the door has caused more problems for the future, or are the insides of the doors rust-proofed?
Thanks
