Hi,

I'm very happy with my 3.0 n/a diesel.

I'm just being curious, but is there anything that can be done to improve it's performance. It's fine, just wondering.....

You could turbo charge it or add nitrous bottles or fit a large petrol engine if your wallet is deep enough (all three would realy make it go).

Adjusting the fuel pumps maximum delivery quantity will increase the output power a little but will also make black smoke, have this done only on an exhaust analyser so that it is still within legal requirements for emissions.

As a general rule moderate cost tuning does little to make it a Q car and does markedly increase fuel consumption if you take advantage of the often meagre power increase.

Regular servicing with the best of the lighter grades (5-40) of synthetic oil and clean air filters is about the best of any low cost tune ups, fit tyres with low rolling resistance.

Performance and OM 603 are rarely found in the same sentence. Serene wafting is what it's all about. :)

1 - make sure you're getting full throttle when the pedal hits the floor
2 - make sure the kickdown cable is allowing you to kick down on about 70% throttle
3 - move the seat forward one notch
4 - rev it mercilessly

I'm not joking about #3 - it makes a big difference to the way the car feels

Agree with all of the above, particularly 1 and 4. Wifes car has a 603 and it is much livelier than a neighbours 606 n/a. Make sure she is going well, hydraulic lifters if noisey can slow them too. I prefer the exhaust note of 603 compared to the 606.
