Happy new year to everyone!

I treated myself to a nice new (by my standards!) motor for christmas - a '94 E300D estate. I am wasting no time in converting it to run on veggie oil.

What I would like to know is what pressure does the IP expect to see at it's inlet? Also, at what pressure to the old cylindrical fuel pumps (as used on petrol cars with K-jetronic) produce. I have on of these and wonder if it would be suitable as a lift pump from my second (derv) tank (direct to the IP)

Thanks!

There's no [edited] in-tank [/edited] fuel pump on a 606 non-turbo car. If you need a pump for some reason I'd use something like a Facet Red Top and an inline pressure regulator to keep the pressure down. I wouldn't use an FI pump as they're designed for high pressures

Race Car practice is to use one pump to feed a swirl pot and for the excess to be dumped back to the tank via a take off at the top of the swirl pot. The feed to the carbs / injection is then fed from the swirl pot via a second pump. Maybe you could do something similar to avoid pressurising the system? Or are you just having two alternative tanks and switching between the two?

Thanks for the reply Nick, but if the om606 is like the 617/603 then will it not use a mechanical lift pump (on the side of the IP)? I haven't looked yet but assumed it would be the same.

Yes it will be. I meant there is no in-tank pump. I've edited my previous post to make it less misleading

Right Nick, I see what you were getting at. I will start a new thread about the conversion and explain what I was getting at.

Thanks mate.
