Om651.913 chain

Hi going to change the chain tensioner on my om651.913 engine bought all the chain kit I have constant chain rattle very bad, Haynes manual online says how to change chain on the engine without taking it out but I've heard you have to remove engine from other people just wondering if anyone has done it with engine in and just done it from top ? Whilst I'm doing tensioner might as well do chain as I'm taking rocker cover off feel like it's possible maybe a tad tricky. Only reply if you have done a chain thanks don't want any desktop mechanics.

Desktop here sorry, afaik you can do the chain in situ , not the tensioners. Have a look on the mechanic bible called you tube
