Give tensioner a change 1st got to be worth a try and I led to understand that's not too complex a job. And if not already done kill stop start or like me just get used to offing it as getting into car.

651 not known to be a great short journey motor.

Hi the only problem is once you have it striped out to do the chain with the tensioner that's when you can see the guides and then it's to late you already have got the camshafts out of you under stand what I mean

I understood tensioner was an all in situ change. If it shuts it up no need to f about with chain at this time?

If u change tensioner and it shuts up I don't think ur taking any real chance
I have had them fail before there is an o ring to retain oil, these go hard and leak allowing a good start up clatter until tensioner is re filled with eng oil at press this again leaks Down. During night . Play repeat until resolved. Leaving as is, if clattering will likely do ur chain guides (PLASTIC) and sprockets no good at all. Catch early, maybe save loads of hassle. If that don't work ur going further into motor and changing tensioner anyway. No?
