top 5 things to check over please?!

Provenance (v5, vin)
Rust - check everywhere, pillars, wheel arches
Check all toys - good bargaining point if something doesn't work
Check it works in all gears incl reverse, kicks down ok etc
Normal 2nd hand car checks ...

My preferred method of checking a car is test driving it really hard. Being very aggressive on the throttle and brakes. Doesn't hurt to find some rough roads to assess the suspension.
