looks nice. 75bhp, so it wont be quick, especially initially, being an auto. however cars werent weighed down with safety gizmos etc then so you may be pleasantly surprised at just how well it DOES go.

the first 202 i had was a manual 220 diesel, no turbo and 90bhp. it DID have all the heavy side impact bars, air bags etc BUT it was till a match for most diesels on the road at that time. even the 1.8 fiesta diesel we had in the fleet at the time couldnt match it on acceleration!

with a car of that age and condition she diserves to be gently driven around..No "black smoke racing " engine in this one:lol:

So its just a small win on the Lotto this evening thats needed then:D...she been added to the watch list ;)...Better not bid just yet though..........

That HP is not right, im sure mine is 60 BHP.
The main downside I can see of that car is the milage is too low... it will take forever to get it to a cool milage like mine

:lol:remind me of the mileage on your 123;)........ i know our E28o has a few little dings down the side (when you look for em ) but i really do feel quite proud of the old girl for cruising up n down the motorways doing all those airport trips:shock:

So is there any "add on kits" to up it from the 60bhp:shock:...remember im used to the torque of the diesel and the power of the V8:lol:

Mine has just clicked over 392,000, and I know thats nothing compared to some!
Well the 240TD might be slightly lighter than your 211, so it will probably be about the same performance overall
Really though, if your modern feeling 211 had 60 HP it would be wierd and feel rediculous, but because your sitting in an 80's cabin and you have very low expectations for the speed, it doesnt feel slow, you very quickly adjust your way of driving.

My folks TRIED to buy one of these back in the day, early 1980’s, rang all over the country and even Ireland to try to find one in stock. Eventually found one in Bournemouth, but the dealer wouldn’t sell it to them as they weren’t ‘local’, and they didn’t want to lose out on follow up business, servicing etc. Oh how times have changed. Happy days.

So there I am calling the car ugly, then I googled some pics of the car I learned to drive in which was my dad's Ford Cortina 1600E. I used to just love that car and it was such a popular car in it's day. But oh my how ugly that looks now too

Perhaps not the best colour for it, but these cars have got a timeless elegance and as paul says, will probably be around when your 210,203, 170’s and the like are bean tins. As they say, one mans meat..,.

What...it's got no contrived creases, superfluous air ducts, awkwardly shaped lights and 20" wheels. The lines of the design are cohesive and practical and there isn't a piece of bling or "look at me" tat on it.

    Must be ugly then...
