On my SE, when any of the 4 doors are open, 6 interior lights come on - high level front & rear and one at the bottom of each door. Same thing happens when one (or both) of the bonnet catches isn't engaged.
I had the n/s bonnet catch receiver (the bit on the landing panel) replaced a couple of days ago but now the sensor isn't sending the 'closed' signal, and the car thinks the bonnet is always open. Until I can get the car back to the garage, the only way I could turn off the interior lights - and prevent a flat battery - was to take the fuse out. I rang the mechanic as soon as I realised the problem but he was puzzled, he said there didn't appear to be any electrics anywhere near the bit he replaced.

Anybody know how to fix this or how to disable the damn thing?

Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks.

The bonnet switch is either set wrong or faulty or badly installed

Update

This is rather a belated update to my original enquiry (BTW, thanks Malcolm for your note).

There appears to be a single switch at the opposite side of the bonnet to the side that had the new catch. I can't see any electrics near to the new catch, or anywhere that might have been affected by the work. An auto-electrician spent 2 hours trying to fix it - without success. He did wonder if the soggy interior due to the rainwater leak (sound familiar anyone?) was contributing to electrical issues.

I've given up, and taken all the bulbs out of the interior lights so that I don't get a flat battery every night. Not the best solution, but it's keeping me on the road!
