Why don’t we fit winter tyres? I am not the only one.........

Still, four new wheels with tyres are never cheap. Apparently, winter spares come as an option that most people go for when buying a car new in Germany.

There are plenty of cheap alloys on Ebay for use as winter wheels, I use my old AMG wheels and this saves the salt messing up my nice SL600 wheels.

I had the two sets in Sweden where everyone has two sets

I heard my postman whispered to me in spring, he got free tyres when he bought alloys for his Mondeo, he was whistling away.

I've had to scrape ice off the windscreen every day this week & the roads that had not been gritted were sheets of ice on a couple of occasions, so how cold does it need to be?

If the temperature is below 7 degrees C, then "cold weather tyres" to give them their correct name will give you more grip than normal tyres & therefore be safer. How cold it can get is irrelevant.

in the past i used m+s tyres & found them to work well in winter esp for getting up to the ski slopes in scotland .the down side was the road noise but overall they worked for me
