orrible noise

hi there
I've got a c class 240 estate, its just developed a nasty noise down around the air con compresser(more like a rattle really) it seem to depend on the air con working and gets better if the ec button is on, could this be something to do with the air con clutch,at high revs it also gets better much worse on tick over

Hydraulic belt tensioner or pully.

You orible noise will be the belt idler assembly, it may only be the damper
