Outside door handle does not go back in

I replaced the door latch with a new one and the outside handle does not go back in. I was told by the shop foreman at Mercedes that I have to adjust the door latch through a hole on the edge of the door with an allen wrench. I tried to adjust the latch but the adjustment would not move. Does any one know how to adjust the latch so the handle will go back in? Thanks for any help.

On a w202 the hook part on the outside handle needs to be behind two parts. There is a flat finger of metal that is pulled to release the door latch, and a thin spring which pulls the handle back in. Getting both into place is often tricky. You might have to take the whole handle off again and have a good look to get your head around it.
