Hi all,

Firstly I don’t know much about ovens. I have a Siemens Fan Oven and Grill( E-nr: HB12320GB / 06 , FD : 8001/502135 ). I put the oven on a few days ago and it tripped the cooker fuse, and it all went off. Turned the trip box back on, and now im finding that the grill works, fan works but oven does not heat up at all.

I took the fan cover off to look at the element, and it visibly looks ok, not sure never seen an element before! Here some pics, any ideas? Cant really afford someone to come out and have a look .

Where do they fit that, between the back seats or something?

Buy and fit a replacement element.

ive just rang frankieboy (a member on here) who is an electrician and he says your element unscrews with probably 2 screws, then remove the lot, take the element to a shop and they will sell you a new one, take it home and replace it, he said you cant even get it the wrong way around

and then it should work, there is a very tiny chance its another part but they virtually never go wrong

good idea & good find

going by your 1950's soap advert style woman in your avatar i thought you were some older person like television was (is)

but you seem to be able to do all kind of stuff on the pc that involves magic so you cant be that old as my mum is 64 and still speaks into the mouse giving it commands!

I'd agree with frankieboy - fits the symptoms - I'd check current to the element but chances are it's gone open circuit. Have fun changing it, they can be a bit of a bugger on some makes.

Does the oven heat up in non-fan mode?

The element fixes in with screws (or sometimes nuts on studs) from the back.

Here's a good guide:
http://www.ransomspares.co.uk/fan_element_article.html

If you're lucky, there will be enough cable to slide the oven out (usually just 4 screws around its frame into the housing) and you and stand it on a couple of (covered!) dining chairs. It's not really heavy, but it's easier with 2 people - especially putting it back without bashing the housing frame.

There's a video here of how to do it too:

Don't forget to isolate at the mains board as well as the switch on the wall.

That's about it, but looking at your photos you may have to remove the complete oven from it's housing if the fixing screws are in the back.
ISOLATE AT THE FUSE BOX BEFORE REMOVING OR TAKING ANYTHING APART.
A replacement element will be easy to find at an electrical specialist shop, allow about £30 for a new one.
Just make sure you've pushed on the spade connections firmly at the back (or whatever contacts its got) and all will be well. You will probably see the 'blow' mark on the old element when it comes out.

sounds good and most probable cause, but i think you will find there will be 3 elements, the fan and grill ones as in your pics, also one burried in the back..

try this for a supplier, I used them and they were well priced and knowledgeable:-

When you get to the element connections take off both spade connectors and use a continuity tester. This will show if the element has burnt out. I have found that new elements from electrical shops don't last as long as the oven manufacturers.
