E230 Estate 1997 P reg in Silver & Navy Chrylser PT Cruiser with all the chrome
Hello,
I have just bought a 1997 P reg E230 estate 7 seater.
The temp gauge moves up above the 80 mark, not a lot but its making me nervous as we are taking the car down to southern Spain in 3 weeks.
It hasn't overheated but are they prone to the gauges moving ?

Thanks

Stuart

Is that on the rear wheel arches and behind the rubbers on the doors,, it was a shame that this happened, very nice cars to own and drive

I have driven a lot to France and Spain. With high outside temperatures, aircon running and a heavy load the gauge will move quite a lot. You do need just to keep an eye on it and also when you are heading for a stopover slow down a few miles before stopping so that the gauge is at normal when you are stopping off for a while. Its good for the engine and head gasket/turbo in particular. Worth making sure you have good oil, fully topped off and clean oil filter and air filter, helps a lot with cooling the engine.

Thanks,good advice.
Yes the car has some rust on the front arches and around the rear number plate.I don't think its anything major though. Will sort out over a period of time.
Now have another issue. My wife went over a big pothole that wasn't signed off and now every little bump in the road makes an awfull clanking noise. Will take the wheel off in the morning to have a look. A nice man at Kwik fit (who kept eyeing the wife up) fixed a leaky joint in the exhast so another job out the way.
Just need to sort the clanking.

Right,
She went into the mechanics about the clunking noise.he said that when my wife went into the pothole it seems she has disloged a shock absorber cover ?
Booked in for Monday morning but I am going to take the wheel off to have a look.
Does that sound feasible ?
Thanks

Send the bill, a photo of the pothole and a covering letter to your local council and get them to pay the bill. It's disgraceful the way road users are expected to foot the bill for damage to their cars as a result of inadequate highway maintenance.

Too right Blakey.
I'm going to cut and paste this into the right section for suspension.
