hi guys,

hope somone can help,we recently had the thermostat changed and the engine seems to be running a little over 80*c is this normal temp as ive tried the carrot test and the fan blades made shreds of that but the pipes seem to have too much pressure in them and are rather hot to touch.

the anti freeze has been renewed a few weeks ago,any ideas?

The rad pipes will get hot, too hot to touch, you will stand a few seconds of 55 deg but 80+ will burn your hand in no time. The system is presurised when hot and the pipes will feel firmer when at normal temp (if you can stand the heat) 80+ish sounds OK, it should be at least 80 for good engine life. Maybe fitting a new radiator pressure cap is a good idea if the current one is old.
The St Johns ambulance hand book has a chapter on burn treatment for those daft enough to get a grip with hot objects. If you do burn your self even only a little little bit, run cold water over the burn site for several minutes (until its realy cold plus at least 5 mins) and seek medical advice.
