Hi all,
I just killed my car dead in I don’t know what to do next. I had an issue with the coolant and oil leaks for a while and the heating wasn’t working. The car died on the motorway. The engine doesn’t start at all . Is this situation salvageable or is it a matter of replacing the engine ? Would appreciate any helpful input . Thank you in advance

Hello and welcome,

As you’ve found out ignoring oil and water leaks is never a good idea…
Until you get a competent mechanic to look at it and investigate you can’t say for definite if the engine is repairable or not.
Get it recovered to a Mercedes specialist (not a dealer) and get them to take a look.

As above.

I can’t help but think of you had oil leaks and coolant leaks, if you didn’t keep it all topped up correctly you could have caused damage that may not be easily seen unless an engine is completely stripped down (time/money).

If a replacement engine is an easier option, again it’s probably easier to get the independent to source it as they will have contacts more reliable than scammers on eBay.

Welcome!

As above you need to get the car to a competent mechanic preferably a MB Independent (much lower labour rates and used to working on older MB cars). Post your location and I’m sure you’ll get a recommendation from members where to take the car to
