My owners manual not displaying, display shows the display cannot be shown in case it distracts driver, however even when stopped it shows same message.
Also my Sat Nav is asking for a disc etc. what's the best place near Glasgow to get these issues rectified.
Thanks in Advance

I would go to the dealer for the disk, maybe the manual is read from a disk

a screen doesn't make a comand system, (*it might have one.... or it might have the other system - and then being a V class the bit I'm on about could be elsewhere)

if you check the chassis number in a decode tool, it will list the specific options the car was build with. And we'll have more of a clue of what system u have... https://www.lastvin.com/

early V class NTG2
much later V class NTG5.2

(I'm guessing around 2016 to 2019) on the NTG5.2 systems, a SD Card slot in centre armrest for Garmin Sat Nav on Audio 20 and Music/Files on Comand

EJ9 Comand Online is this what I'm looking for?

It will be NTG5*2 for that age and ComandOnline uses an inbuilt HDD (hard disk drive) for both the Nav maps and the Manual so it doesn’t need any other disc. You may need to get it checked by your local dealer If it can’t read the HDD. Perhaps a previous owner has done a factory reset which can cause problems sometimes.

if that's the option from interrogating the chassis number - it suggests you have a high spec one with as it says online ability....
they used to have subscription stuff for live traffic (no idea where they are now - although a similar post this week seems to say that's still out there)…

if no one has touched the car (software) wise there could be significant updates available to the operating system, for stuff like security updates, DAB confusion, traffic and speed cam fixes (most of the world has slower speed limits since 2016, UK 40 and 20mph zones every where, Holland slowed everything down last year and Germany banned speed cam warnings last year) and separately current navigation Maps

none of those should have broken the Nav (but DAB could be broken - depends on the car if late 2017 would hope its OK), as Srdl says have heard them get muddled. and likely some updates available. So that sounds like it needs plugging in to main merc dealer (or very rare online and competent independent). Newer maps or newer traffic subscription is more money for different updates....

not heard of any indie up north - updating everything if you just go to a main dealer and say sort it could be >£500

I believe you are correct regarding the factory reset. If this is the case how do I go about getting it reversed to allow me access to my online owners manual and Sat Nav again
If it has to go to a local dealer can you recommend one near Glasgow (I’m new to Mercedes and would appreciate your advice)

Thanks for your input.
I think a visit to the Mercedes main looks like my best option.
Thanks again for your time.

The post Srdl says where units the have got muddled , seems to be some "software fun", if the dealership is typically incompetent they might suggest you need the whole comand unit...

A few of us are near a place in Lightwater Surrey, where they have a lot of experience and more sense than any Merc dealership.... I'd urge caution using a main dealer, but as 600 miles away from people we'd trust not sure your best move

I must admit I am concerned about incompetent dealers, as you say they will try to sell me a complete package.
I will try and find a Mercedes technician locally to get advice from before I approach a main dealer.

you'll be hard pressed to find them, we have a few hear but all well below Birmingham, if there are great ones up there they don't shout up

without online dealer spec diagnostics (not a fake off line one, that everyone and their dog has..) it will tell you nothing much at all, regarding this sort of fault which is mostly about secret write it faulty and buggy unless its plugged into Germany on a frequent basis

I have no personal knowledge (being another Southerner!) but I did a search and this firm was recommended in 2018 on “the other side” (another Mercedes forum) by a member who is also a respected member on this forum. They seem to have the Star system so might be worth giving them a call.
