P229E and P220F codes

Hi, I have a 2016 E220 cdi bluetec. The yellow engine light came on and I had the codes read and it came up with P229E and P220F. Now I thought it needed a new Nox sensor but after going out in the car today, the engine light has now turned off. Could this be an intermitent connection with the sensor or should I still pay a fortune and have the sensor replaced?

You can ask dealer if they go under warranty, but again if they change only one, then probably another will pop up after a while (even it would be solid). Codes are telling me nothing, are they both Nox sensor related? Bad adblue injector is one possible culprit too. I wonder how they managed to make so crappy system... and its not MB only, other brands suffers same peoblems. Save the world!

What is scrappy, the NOx sensor or the adblue injector..?

Whole /%%&( system... sensor compare values between them and if only one is changed, after a while it conclude old one must be duff because they drift differently, injection system, tank sensor... every single fault paralyzes whole system, and system jams in weeks if not used, not mentioning the dooms day counter which continues ticking behind if not reset properly... you can get countdown quite soon after part change... and 'solution' is change more parts. I am not surprised there already exists 'emulators' for whole system.

I am not against pollution systems but it cannot be so hard to build a such simple system which average lifetime is more than 11 month... poor design even from german car engineers.

Ok, maybe I was little exaggerating...

Ive got it booked in to an independent specialist who says they will change and code the offending sensor. Are you saying its usual for the other one to go shortly later? Would it be worth changing both now?

If it is not under warranty, probably not. You might be lucky and other sensors lives end of its normal lifecycle.

Has anyone had success getting this sort of repair done as a goodwill gesture as its out of warranty. I've sent a message to Mercedes UK to see what they have to say
