hi all

sorry to bug you with my newbie questions.

i opted for the special paint treatment which protects the paint and the whole interior. the metal paintwork felt very smooth, but how do i know the leather has been done?

none of the interior (leather or plastic) looked shiny or felt smooth or slippery. is it meant to?

the carpet in the boot was wet and had a slight wight tint, the salesment said it was the treatment still drying.

i could notice that in a couple of nooks and crannies on the exterior, i could see slight white residue as if it had been waxed. is that how the treatment goes on as? a wax?

bloming paid 350 for it, dont think it was worth it now :(

picking it up tomorrow or friday, would appreciate any tips

thanks so much

I do not know how to answer this, some are very good.

You would not want slippery leather either.

I do not think that I would pay for this, as I like doing it

Hi Mate,

It does work but not worth getting it done when they ask you to opt in at the dealers.. we bought a brand new company lexus and was told it's £350-400 for the treatment but we decided NOT to opt in.

Found it when I got home on other websites, other companies offering to do it for less than half the price. I think you can even buy the kit to do it yourself for like £50.

But you've paid for it now and it works to an extent.. it's not like you're going to be spilling mcdonalds' milk shake everywhere all the time now is it :)

You should get a brochure with a full run down of the treatment the car has had, and if not ask for one detailing any warranties and other special attributes to this miraculous stuff..

We had this thrown in for free when we bought our 211. It was obvious that it had been applied because the car smelled of chemicals for days! Not sure specifically how good it is, but the paint seems to stay cleaner longer between washes and stains do not seem to penetrate the carpets/mats-any dirt easily hoovers off. I certainly wouldnt pay £350 for the privilege, but it does seem to do what it says!

I had my E240 done. I didn't have my E270 done. I can't tell the difference. The 240 dark grey paintwork would go 'light' and needed a polish every few months. The 270 is silver and rarely even needs washing. Every year I claybar it and put on a thick coat of Carnuba and that seems to see it through for 12 months.
Interior wise, possibly it stopped the carpets getting mucky but I still valetted it and it wasn't any cleaner than my 270 is.
Maybe I never got it on my 240 (I had the warranty doc so assume it was) or maybe the 270 was done before I got it, I don't know but there's nothing much in it as far as I can tell.

Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....
I have to put a word in for "Supaguard" - can't comment on anything else, no experience.

I know that when I worked for Peugeot, after about 5 years, cars that had been treated definately looked better than cars that hadn't. Based on this, when my Dad bought a brand new car there, I sold him the product (at a discount admittedly). Dad just sold it at 10 years old, never polished it (in fact I suggest you do NOT polish it as most polish contains an abrasive that may wear the coating off), and I am not lying it looked like a showroom new car. The coatings on the leather is another thing entirely so can't comment on that. But it is certainly better to get it done within the first few months of a cars life than say at 5 years old.

Saying all of that, I will be having my other half's new CLK (2001/51) done as I think anything is better than nothing and I am cr*p at polishing cars.

They offered it to me when I bought mine. The car was previously used though, so how am I to know whether it already has been treated. Personally I felt it was money making tactic, using scaremongering as the driver. Admittedly I am concerned about how the vehicle will hold up, as my contract means I have to hand it back in 4 years (or buy it outright). Internally, much like the living room sofa - I was simply thinking of buying a can or two of Scotchguard and treating the seats, carpet and boot. With baby No 1 still cooking, I expect a moderation of baby mess to end up in the car somewhere in the near future. It may make sense to lay a set of Merc floor mats to pick up the excessive foot-born muck. As for the external, I am not sure but intend to look into it. All suggestions welcome.:D
