paint bubbles

Washing the car yesterday noticed some small bubbles on the bonnet, when I rubbed them with my nail a little paint lifted showing good galvanized metal below. The paint thickness is very thin so not sure if it's a poor respray job in the past. The marks are very small about 1mm max so some kind of touch up should be ok, what is the best one to use

Your description sounds like the paint has micro blisters. They're caused by poor preparation before top coat paint (moisture in the primer as often as not). Touching in the blemishes will be a never ending job. The only fix is to strip it back and repaint.

Of all the reds that MB have offered, it's Fire Opal (Mars in USA) that has all the problems, but as you may well know, I have a lacquer peeling problem with Carneol Red, and I've found 1 or 2 other posts on UK and USA forums about fun with this colour.

However, i've not seen anything about problems with any other MB colour, and I'm getting precisely nowhere with MBCS about even contributing to the cost of fixing my car - now there's a surprise!!

osbidian black and as the car is almost 14 years old all the rest is good, nice deep shine except all the bonnet is dull.
Possible in the past it has had some chips done as these bubbles are near the front but this is the first time I have seen them in the 4 years I have owned it.

Never heard of it being a problem with Obsidian before

More than likely a poor past repair, as OP says the rest of a 14 year old vehicle is ok.

Take it to a decent body shop to get the paint thickness measured to see if it has previously been repaired
