Top job there williamsdirect!

Detailing world can get very addictive...I spent over £300 last week on products! If anyone decides to order products from the USA from Autopia, you can use the code 'International' when placing your order. It gets packed & labled correctly then!;) ;)

A quick example of the prices available..the larger bottle of Meguiars NXT car wash which retails for £14.99 just about everywhere here cost me ~ £4.50ish. I got my order in 4 days :D

The car looks fantastic.
What products did you use to get this finish as I would like to try to obtain this standard for my ML.

Any info would be very much appriciated.

The secret is not so much in the polish used in this case but to apply and buff it in straight lines, rather than in small circular movements. Swirls will disappear after a couple of good sessions.

I have a friend who was time served in coach building at vauxhall. He's in his late 70's now, but swears by the polishing in straight lines method. It takes him hours to polish his car, but wow what a finish ! Concourse is an understatement!

From what I was told by a bodyshop guy a few years back ... going through automatic carwashes too many times builds up a layer of their wax ... the brushes cut this wax not buff it, so you end up with paintwork that looks like it's been polished with a brillo pad.

A really good polish should sort it .. lots of elbow grease

Hi Mark, thanks for the comments..
there was a bit of work involved in producing that finish, but basically....
first the car was given a good wash using "meguirs gold class" shampoo
all the paintwork was then "clayed" using "meguirs clay kit" both from halfords.. then washed again and dried..then the whole car was polished using "Autoglym super resin polish" not by hand but with a orbital polisher, a porter cable, you couldn't polish to that finish by hand, not merc paint it's to hard, then I applied 2 coats of "Klasse sealant glaze", then it's ready for a coat of wax, P21S carnuba, and as you can see it all works well together...
The secret to a good shine is preparing the clear coat to accept the protection whether it is an aclylic sealant or a carnuba wax. Ironicly it's the action of cleaning the car that does the most damage to the clear coat, spreading the small particles of grit around the paintwork,(a drive-thru is a definite no no, they are the devils work, ha ha) inflicting very fine scratches known as swirls or micromarring, these can be seen quite clearly if you look at the suns reflection in your paint work, this is what gives it a dull appearance, these need to be removed with a fine abrasive,(a polish) not Tcut, take a wander over to detailingworld.co.uk there a friendly and helpful bunch of guys, and do your merc some justice..!
Hope this has been helpful..
Chris
