i have read with some alarm on how some mercs are rusting i have 2002 w210 silver i got it on a private sale so how long do merc garantee there body paint for any info most appreceated.
If it has full MB servicing then 30 yrs corrosion warranty. Pls have a look in the service book as it is all listed out. However if you have rust issues as you are a new owner MB may take the view that you have bought the car cheap as it has rust so may not honour the warranty. IMHO the best advice is if it has full MB servicing keep it up and build up a relationship with your dealer before asking for any rust warranty work.
I have a 2002 ML-270 in silver. I have recently purchased it from an independent, but have noticed that on the drivers side rear door sill, there is some paint bubbling and rust forming where some careless twit has scraped the paint. My car has a full MBSH, what would be my chances of getting this fixed under the 30 year warranty ???
None I'm afraid. If it's a scratch or a stone chip you have no chance. Unfortunately it seems that a number of people on this site consider it normal for a car to rust as soon as it gets chipped or scratched and it seems to be an opinion shared by MB.
Bottom line, they rust. About the only modern car that still rusts. Shame really.
