Parking brake cable failure

I have an E class coupe 2016. The footbrake seems to be fine except it wont lock when pushed down, it just springs up again. The footbrake handle is just loose so I presume the cable has gone. Is this an easy fix please?

Sounds like the ratchet locking mechanism has failed rather than the actual parking brake cable.
Being upside down under the dash is how I see your future…

It was exactly this. Took me about a minute to fix and I did it with my fingers!! Thank you so much for this
