First of all i want to say i am a new member and a big hello to all,I have been viewing the forums since i became an owner of my w203 in october.I am impressed at the vast amount of information here and,the willingness of people to help others.I have heard of other types of people who would ask for a fee to answer questions on forums, what a cheek.I do have a question though, and it is where is to support the rear of the car on axle stands ?(the parking brake wont fully come up) i did see on the forum that the stands go on a round rubber near the wheel, But i cant see this. I am waiting for delivery of stands so i will be ready for action soon, look forward to some advice. Thanks for reading..

Hello and welcome :D:D

For adjusting the rear wheel shoes, you will not be under the car, but a stand with a round top is perfect from the safety angle.

Inside each rear hub there is a flip round adjuster, you turn these round till the wheel is locked and then back off say 6 notches

In the link you will see the adjuster 220, and you just flip the wheel round with a flat bladed screw drive through the hole in the rear drum

After this has been done you can take up cable slack from through an access panel under the rear seat

I will print off the correct procedure shortly so that members can have it, so if you are not clear,,just ask :D

The parking shoes on MB's are not self adjusting, normally this will solve the problem, they cables may need adjustment but not replacing

Sorry buddy I guess I should have included that in the post, I use a soft rubber block on the jack, and lift from the diff.

That said, someone please correct me if I have been doing it wrong!

Lubricating and adjusting the quadrant under rear seat should cure your problem.

I'm having similar problem, the light on the dash doesn't off when I let the park brake go, I'm thinking the cable as gone dry, the park brake pedal has a lot of travel on it, the shoes shouldn't ware that much, thinking if they have worn may have stuck on at some point or are doing, strip and new shoes and rebuild for me, plus check cable

One must still adjust the shoes before you attempt the cable you may have used up the max free play on the shoes, and if you adjust the slack with the cable it will do nothing.

Do it in the right order.

The spring on the pedal can break

Can someone confirm that it is OK to lift the rear of a C Class via the rear Diff ??
I too have wondered how to put stands under the rear of the car when the jack is actually where the stands would go.

See no problem jacking on the diff. Only time problems occur is when the diff is offset and the vehicle tilts. Make sure your trolley jack is man enough for the job and always use stands if going under the car.
