I’ve got a C200 AMG Line Estate. It has front and rear parking sensors. I’ve only had the car 4 weeks and I’ve noticed that there is no audible noise from the front or rear sensors. If you get close enough then the front do make a noise. There is a bar which indicates how far away you are on the dash but that’s it, I have a reversing camera but there’s no audible noise, is this normal?

Also the stop start? When it’s selected on the centre section it’s green for on or off? Because on the dash it has the A with a cross through it when it’s green. But i haven’t had it work yet. When should it work? When I’m park? Or when the hold is on?

The parking sensors only make a noise if the red light on the switch is off and when you get so close the red LEDs light up.

As for stop/start not working I'd call that a bonus.

Unlike a lot of other makes, the sensors do not make any sound untill the lights get into the red zone (i.e very close). This is normal and you will get used to it. I'm sure to point this out if anyone borrows my car!!! Stop/star is fickle, but like LK you should be glad it's no functioning. The first thing I do when I start my car is to disable the start/stop function.

It’s a C220D , didn’t mean C200. But thanks for your replies. When would the start stop work though? Every time you apply the hold? Does is matter what driving mode its in? I read there’s a few variables that need to be happening for it to work.

Stop start works when you come to a standtill (stop) and disengages when you release brake and accelerate (start). How it engages and disengages is rather smart.

It failed on my C class due to the second battery (a capacitor under the gbox).

It puts alot of strain battery and running gear and is better in the long term it doesnt work because of whats mentioned, but some do like all things working on thier cars. I am one of those.

regarding the audible noise. should be working front and rear - are you sure its factory fit.

because Merc always switch on the fronts as speed drops, they went with an incredibly short range so normal stop start driving in traffic isn't really annoying
from inside of the car on a Merc it feels like you're hitting the object before the warning lights notice. if you get out and look its more than meter, but if driving fast it does inform you too late to do anything about it

many cars only activate the front if you have used reverse.... then the car have the beeps from the 3 meters you need

stop start damaging the car and making navigation of busy intersections dangerous, is green - you want this broken... its only to wear out the car and cause crashes to sell more cars
