Any advice on parking up a car that is on the road everyday due to this virus . Is it worth filling fuel tank for condensation, rotating tyres , covering car or sun shade , filling tank with usual millers ecomax or not , any other advise or just leave to rot

Ours too is going to pretty much stand for the next 12 weeks. I did fill the tank with petrol and checked the tyre pressures. Although it was cleaned it is now covered in dust and looks awful. All I am going to do is give it a run occasionally just to keep the oil circulated and the batteries topped up. :)

I shall be using mine for the shopping run too. Possibly SORN it for a few months if it has a high cost, £555 etc.

Although my SLK is tucked up in her garage, fuel tank pretty full and battery conditioner connected, I can't do the same with the S204 on the driveway. However, a week ago I bought a battery conditioner tester from Lidl, and with a little care have been able to connect it to the battery, replace the tool tray and boot floor panel, and hang the tester where I can see it from outside, so the car is locked and alarmed on the driveway but I can see the battery condition. OK. I can't close the load cover, but there's nothing interesting on view so I'm not bothered. So far the monitor is showing a nice green light, if it goes orange I know to put the charger on!

Just be aware that if you lose mains power you may need to reset the charger - historically the Lidl and Aldi ones won't automatically turn back on.

When I fell off a ladder a couple of years ago, my 207 wasn’t driven for eight weeks while I was hospitalised and recovering at home in a body brace. A friend took off the parking brake and helped me fix the battery conditioner.

The only problem I had when I drove it again was a horrendous noise from the wheels and brakes. I really thought something had broken. A few miles and several lots of harsh braking cured it and everything was fine afterwards. I would suggest trying to move the car, even if only for a mile or so, every couple of weeks just to keep everything moving freely.

Thanks Alastair, as it happens it's the Lidl conditioner that's on the SLK, and I'm aware of needing to reset after power loss. I still have my roughly 20 year old decent conditioner as well as a brand new SIP battery charger if needed for the S204. I'm chuffed to bits that I've been able to rig the Lidl condition tester so it's visible, especially after the problems I had recently due to a duff battery!
