Parktronic problem.....

Got a SL55 AMG 2004 and although the Parktronic works fine at the front, the rear bleeps but doesn't light up the segments. The car has been washed and is clean so it's not grime/dirt causing the problem.

Any ideas please?

Are you aware that you view the rear parking sensors in the rear view mirror, as the display is in the rear. If you have the wind screen down, this will hide it from view

Thank you - you realised l'm new to the MB forum.

l'm not sure what you mean though by your response.

I've had the car 3 weeks and usually l put it into reverse and as l get closer to walls or other cars the Parktronic will bleep and the yellow/red segments start to light up. Except now, it still bleeps but the segments don't light up?

Sorry,, many people do not realize that the SL has two parking sensor displays, one in the front and the other in the rear, and the one in the front does not display the rear sensors at all.

If the rear display is not functioning I think that it will need a new amp

However, if it did work and now it doesn't surely that indicates something is wrong/faulty?

That display is only for the front sensors and nothing to do with the rear at all.

Go and look in the car behind the seats, and right at the top just under the wind screen that folds you have another display. This display can be viewed in the rear view mirror, but you will not see it if the wind screen is down as the mesh hides it from view

Sometimes if the draught stop is folded down the rear park sensors cannot be viewed easily

Thank you both of you - you are of course absolutely correct.

lt is all working fine - l just didn't know there was a "rear parktronic display".

Glad you are au fait now. Just lucky you haven't hit anything going backwards looking at the front display!
