Recently my Parktronic system failed, showing the double red lights, both front and rear, and the sounder whenever the ignition was switched on. I took the car to my local indie, WDM in Perry Barr, Birmingham. Their STAR diagnosis revealed that the rear LH sensor was at fault. Today I had a look under the car and found that the rubber gaiter covering the sensor was adrift, allowing all the road muck and rain to get to the unit. I removed the sensor from the bumper (two clips) and unplugged it from the loom (1 clip). Cleaned and dried the sensor, replaced it and relocated the rubber gaiter and no more fault.

Job done with one dry cloth and a kitchen radiator. Hope this helps you as I've seen a number of similiar Parktronic posts.

I'd like to add that I called into WDM without an appointment and that they looked at the car there and then. They also didn't charge me for the diagnosis.
For this level of service I commend them to the Forum.

Blimey - that was some post resurrection.

I wrote it over two years ago relating to my previous car.

Glad it helped :)

Cheers Malcolm & Developer....

I'm going to remove the rear bumper when the weather is warm to fully clean ( remove wheel arch liners etc ).

I know there is mud / muck under there so am going to do it properly.

Also the undertray will come off for an inspection / wash also.

Front bumper may also come off for a clean / schultz etc if needed.

I really want to hang onto this car for a while & will see what's going on with these sensors ( fitted them to my older W210, and it was easy as chips to do ).

Cheers :D
