OK so not a real parrot but my parrot MKi9000, it seems over the last few days it have been a bit intermittent on connecting to my mobile and music and then this morning nothing, doesn't seem to have any power even tried plugging in a usb to do an upgrade but still nothing there :(, now i actually paid for it to be installed so i'm not 100% sure where it may be wired into but i'm sure it will only have a couple of options? I'm guessing it could be a blown fuse or the wiring (hope not the unit it's self?).

I'm contacting the people that did the install and getting their opinion but in the meantime any ideas on where to check?

Thanks in advance

It's pining

don't want to go taking things out just yet, was thinking more along the lines of where to check first (fuses) befor going and removing the head units to check the wiring at the back?

The problem is with the installation.

It should be clipped into place properly. It should never be nailed to its perch.

that was my thoughts, must be a doggy connection somewhere :(

would nailing it to the perch not be classed as animal cruelty?

It could just be sleeping

poked it with a pointy stick a number of times, still no movement

I do not think there are any fuses in this circuit

thats a shame, i wonder depending what the sliced into to get the switched power if that has blown a fuse?

Options on what it could be connected to?

I do not know much about these things unless the parrot has a fuse :(

The old 3200's had 2 in-line fuses, my 9200 has one so I would imagine the 9000 also has at least one in-line fuse

If you do decide to pull it apart, you can leave everything connected and just check the fuse in the loom. If fuse is fine, at least you know the unit is duff

ignition supply is usually taken from the cig. lighter socket on a mercedes. IIRC my 3200 has inline fuses, so id imagine the newer ones would have them too, as it cant be certain that whoever installs any particular unit will have the sense to fit it to a fused circuit, and so inline fuses are fitted

scotchlok connectors often do give trouble after a few years, yes. however, from a fitters point of view, its a fast easy alternative to wire stripping/soldering/insulating etc.

I soldered a multi socket adaptor to the back of my cig. lighter when I fitted mine, and now my parrot, satnav, phone charger etc are ALL plugged into the adaptor, and the whole thing is hidden in the dash behind the radio etc!!
