My 2004 facelift S Class never came with the COMAND manual for some reason and the local MB dealers cannot seem to get the right manual ordered.

So far they have sent two; one for the facelift DX based CD system and the other was an add on maual with about 12 pages....but mine is the unit with the seperate DVD unit in the boot and the additional sub-menu buttons down each side of the screen. If someone has a facelifted S Class with the DVD sat nav and you have the manual in the glove box, would they be so kind as to post the part number off the back of it so I can let MB know and they can order the correct one?

They have checked the EPC and still cannot get it right!!

The head unit in the following EBay link is the same one as mine...

Thanks

Baz

The manual in my '53 S320cdi is A215 584 11 83 (EN Edition A 04/03)

This is definitely the w220 dvd comand manual but there maybe later editions.

Hope this helps

Adam

No problem. This manual is for the very early w220/w215 DVD siemens comand with both tape and dvd/cd (hiden) slot in the head unit. I am sure there must be a later version as I think the tape slot was deleted soon after.

Mine is an 05 reg S350.
It has the Command APS with Navigation which I think is made by Blaupunkt combined with an Alpine CD changer and Harman DVD player in the boot, (All original equipment).

The head unit does not have any CD or tape slots.

The Command Manual part number is 220 584 13 96 EN Edition G 03/02

Does the screen not drop down to reveal the tape slot or rise up to reveal the DVD slot? press the eject button and it gives you the tape or DVD option!

I'm ashamed to admit it but I've had the car for six months and I've never even opened the command manual until this evening, I just played around with the controls until I familiarised myself with the unit.

After a brief inspection, I realise it is not the manual for the APS DVD unit fitted to my car, it is a manual for the earlier CD based unit which probably explains the suffix 03/02 on the part number I supplied to you earlier today.

However, my unit definately does not have an eject button as all of the CD and DVD drives are located in the boot.

This seems to be the original unit supplied with the car from new as I have recently upgraded the navigation with a MAPDVD10.0-E from Command online which was supplied after information was taken from my VIN.

After a second look at the picture supplied with your original post, I can see my unit is not the same as this one although it looks very similar.

Please accept my apologies for almost leading you on a wild goose chase.

Also, I've just gone and got mine from the boot, and on the back cover it says:

Order-No. 6515 6675 02 Parts-No. 215 584 11 83 EN Edition A 04/03

Mine is a 54 plate with the cassette and DVD behind the display screen.

HTH,
Bill

I was just thinking that Adam.... especially as Teabag mentions a DVD drive and CD changer in the boot (we need some photos Teabag!!)

My 03 facelift had the one in your link Adam which used the CD based blaupunkt navigation disks, but had a TV option rather than DVD

Ah how I remember the Ford Scorpio site. Good old Eric (The Malcolm of the Ford Scorpio). The video of the headlamp washers on the site is my car, and I also did the article on fitting an illuminated Sunroof switch.

I have to say the Cosworth version was a damn good car with plenty of grunt - it was only let down by it's fuel economy, hence the change over to Mercs who do a diesel auto. Had Ford done a good one, I may well have been tempted to stay with the Scorpio.

Cheers,
Bill

No it's not this one Adam, but it does look like the unit pictured on my manual.

The unit in my car looks like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mercedes-Benz...S_Accessories_Software_ET?hash=item2557849d11

From the advert this one seems to be a Siemens APS unit and the data plate suggests it was built at 8am on Monday 23rd May 2005, almost one year after the delivery date of my car

Does anyone know the part number of the manual for this unit?

I'll take some photos when it stops raining (It could well be obsolete by then)
