Hi all, sods law, i have been given the honour of driving our carnival queen at our carnival day tomorrow, whilst cleaning out the interior, (hey it was clean anyway) !! i traversed the passengers seat forward but it will not now go back, it continues to go forward even on reverse,so now i can probably get a midget in the front. i shouldn't need it tomorrow, but can someone point me in the right direction, could it be a solanoid under the seat, ? thanks ken. oh its a 2000 clk 230 convertible

come on guys 182 lookers and no advice yet, i had a look at the seat today, (passengers side) the seat goes up and down - i can hear the motor working on forward, (i think it has gone forward as far as it can go) but on trying to reverse - nothing- could it be a sticking relay, ?? i was going to have the door panel off to check the switch, but thanks to modern car technology, it has and air bag in it, so sods law it will go off in my face, lol !! well not funny ; if so where is the seat realy, (drivers side ok working perfectly)

It's not too bad getting door card off if you do a quick search you should be able to find pics of how to do it.I think there is possibly a youtube demo. If you can get at it with the seat forward look at the connector block under the seat you may have partially disconnected it.

Try resetting the seat back, release catch, move fully forward, release catch, move back. now try the seat base adjuster

Taking off the door card may not help here the seat may have to be lifted or put on STAR to see if normalizing will solve it

seat wont go back

thanks for the replies, took car over to my "indie" garage, it appears to be a dodgy door switch, the guy fiddled about with it, and hey presto it works (for now) the seat is back and will stay in this position from now, lol. didnt want payment for it either, but he got a fiver for dropping everything to look at it, oh the joys of knowing the boss,

Now if I remember on this one a poor connection where the board is soldered on, an easy fix

once again i apologise for not replying, is is it easy to take the door panel off, so i disconnect the battery, i was a bit apprehensive as it has an air bag in the passengers side door. still it looks like a job for the better weather now, thanks
