Just had the old TE serviced today (36000 big one).

Its the 1st service the cars had in a while by the looks of it!

The service came to £407 which when I look at the bits replaced (all mb) isnt too bad.

The problem is the "list" of other bits that need attention,

Ht leads (no 6 has two male ends?) and is broken
Radiator cap rubber has perished
Brake fluid is black
Antifreeze needs replacing
Throttle linkage and springs (some joker has done a bodgeup here)
Engine mounts (knackered)
Sump oil level sensor leaking
Undertray missing
Exhaust rubber split
Bum clamp missing ?
Front brake hoses perished
Front brake pad pin missing on o/s
Rear and headlight wipers knackered
Polybelt stabiliser u/s
Front pads and disks knackered
steering pump is a little damp

And for the creme de la creme... the head gasket has a small leak and shes burning a little oil too

All in all Im a bit gutted but remaining positive, as deep down I believe shes a good car.

Im getting it all done next Saturday, (not the gasket) then after that she going on a run down to france

The chap knows he's mercs and at £45+vat an hour is reasonable too.

I'll let you know how I get on next week.

Cheers all

Paul
