Can anyone suggest a good place to get personalised number plates in the south-east? :)

As all the dealers sell from the same DVLA list for prefix reg's you can play one off against another. Got £100 off the Wife's. For non prefix, there is a good source of agencies on the autotrader web site or in the mag. Got mine through a classified in the autotrader, though that was a very long time ago. Also remember, a reg is only worth what people will pay, so the price quoted is only a guide (no matter what they tell you). If you find a nice one, it's worth making an offer.

DVLA will supply a plate for you all that you will have to pay is the transfer fee.
Or before you sell your car you can change your plate and put your plate on retention until you get another car

As numbnuts says, you will need to pay the transfer fee (£80 I think). Just tell the garage when you trade the car in and they will sort out the paperwork. That way they can make and fit the physical plates too. They will need the tax disk, log book and MOT for the donor car.
