Petrol 2018 C200 se - Garage charged for PDF regen?

Hi, everyone. My father-in law's petrol C200 had recently gone into limp mode 5 or 6 times. He's in his 80s and found it quite distressing. He took it to a Mercedes main dealer garage and they have charged him £350 for performing a 'DPF' regen and an extensive road test? Do petrol Mercedes have a DPF??

Yes newer ones do, but the regen procedure is much quicker than on a diesel, so maybe a bit steep unless its also diag etc.

Yes, Gasoline Particulate Filters are common in petrol cars now but this is the first I’ve heard of them needing a forced regen. Perhaps all it actually needed was a good road test as I assume your father-in-law doesn’t go far in it,

Thanks for the replies. Glad to know he wasn't being fleeced. Yes, he got the car just before covid and has only done very short journeys. I've told him to give it some beans once it's up to temperature every now and then.

I have done a few, mainly from the insurance repair place across the street. The cars are driven short distances around the yard etc which does not help

That’s a matter of opinion if they charged £350 but then that applies to most of the official stealers charges.

You live and learn, I didn't know that petrol engine cars had DPF's Although I wouldn't mind betting that their" re gen" procedure was to give the car a blast down the motorway "extensive road test" Or as some of us refer to as an Italian tune up.

If they done a forced regen with the car connected to star then I can see why they charged.
Passive are in the background when car is in use and a no of parameters are met (fill level, temp, fuel level ao).
