petrol consumption E220 cabrio

Friend of mine is contemplating buying a 1996 E220. Says he couldn't afford to run an E320. Anyone know what kind of performance/consumption you can get from these cars which seem fairly cheap in good nick at about £8k.

In my experience he is not going to do much better with a 220,on a long motor way run I get nearly 32 mpg from my E320 coupe

My E220 coupe gives about 12p per mile depending on petrol price.
