Hi,

I ran out of petrol this morning as I didn't realise I was running this low as my warning light didn't appear!?

Will this just be a bulb behind the dash or something a little more technical?

When I turn the ignition key from off the warning light does not light up with the other dash lights? must be bulb? the gauge itself works fine now I've been able to fill up....

Cheers guys

you are probably right on the money there

You might be able to get at it from underneath and behind, depending on your model. Most likely to have to pop the instrument cluster out, tricky but not impossible. Search on the site and you might even find an excellent photo-story someone posted up once.
Which car are you working on?

Finally fixed,

The petrol warning light has it's own bulb behine the instrument cluster, had to a wait a few days for the dealer to get the part in though, as isn't a standard stock item.

Easy to change the bulb, pain to extract the instrument cluster though...

Cheers
