You need to get codes read - without codes being read we'd just be guessing.

No. Needs a Star or similar code reader.

If you bought from a dealer take it back.
Under the consumer act they have to give 3 months warranty.

Check to see if your cruise control has also stopped working.
The two symptoms are often related, and can give clues as to the cause.

You haven’t accidentally set the speed limiter have you?
If not, as above get it back to the dealer especially as you’ve paid some kind of extended warranty ...

Kick down should over ride the limiter
..... it did on my R Class though I've not tried on my ML.

It does but you have to press a long way past normal to do it.

I stopped reading when I got to this point! You have at least one if not two warranties so get it back to supplying garage asap - oh, and then post the result here please so that we all know what the problem was once it is fixed under warranty!!

Yes that sounds like limp mode. I'd hazard a guess at the conductor plate in the gearbox but it could be several things.

Sorry to hear of your woes but it’s fixed now so go and enjoy it.

This is why I don’t buy any extended warranties as I’d rather not have the grief and stress of arguing with them.

These extended warranties are such a minefield and it's really luck of the draw. I bought SWMBO's car (an 05 ex-Mobility Renault Grande Scenic) about 10 - 12 years ago from a semi retired car sales guy who worked from home. Price was good and he gave me what I asked in PX for her old car. As an afterthought I asked about extended warranty and his opinion was more or less the same as yours.... But he sold me a warranty policy at his cost "just in case". Six months later the "heads up" LED dashboard died totally. I took it to a Renault main dealer who happily billed the warranty company who paid in full and I certainly got my money's worth.

She still has the car and it start first time and costs me a road tax bill, and insurance premium and a "check all levels" service once a year.
