Please help me find this driveline vibration..

Hi all.
Have slowly been tracking down the problem below - thought at one point it was the exhaust as noise seems to come from around the area of the Cat, but have now been able to rule that out.
Here goes (190E, 93, 2.0, Auto):
During medium acceleration as I pass through 1000/1300Rpm I'm getting a deep pitched vibration/rattle, it's quite faint but definitely there and appears to be related to how much torque the engine needs to produce as it gets worse with 4 passengers and luggage. All fluids and filters are new, gearbox and diff don't whine, after 2000miles the engine hasn't used a drop of oil. Mileage is 97k and I do get a bit of driveline backlash that makes me want to replace the flex-disks as a matter of course. The other possibility after doing some research is that the torque converter flex plate could need tightening.
Are these my 2 most likely culprits?
Any comments or suggestions would be a great help!

have a look at the "donuts" on the prop shaft. A worn/failing front one would make just the noise you are talking about.

yeah i agree with andy. you could also check the nearside engine mount as its a torque related problem this mount takes up most of the engine movement. it is rubber & fluid filled & quite a common problem.

HI Ted, thanks for the thoughts on the engine mounts as I had considered this also. I had both of these replaced when I purchased the car earlier this year. They are genuine MB so not an issue of poor aftermarket parts, but could it be a case of somehow being poorly fitted and this resulting in the vibration/rattle that I'm describing?
