I'm still waiting for that car park scam

where the girls wash your screen and steal your wallet!

Alex, I've emptied all my wallets

in anticipation. I haven't washed the cars either.
I have corrected my poor typing though. No excuses, pedant to pedant.

in defence of Grimsby

I am Cumbrian just like Turbopete and others on here, and I must defend Grimsby my wife loves the place,:D:rolleyes:, we went on holiday there about 12yrs ago and we were walking around the fishing boats that had just arrived to unload their catch, when Carol decided she would like to look inside a fishing boat, she wandered up to a biggish boat and leaned over the guardrail of a boat and suddenly screamed and jumped back and looked very embarassed:p, I looked over the edge of the boat and there was a old fisherman sitting on a bucket with his pants around his ankles having a 5hite smiling:eek:, I nearly collapsed laughing and we still talk about it today,we went on to have fish and chips which were absolutely gorgeous, memories eh.;).
although this has nowt to do with carjacking etc I thought I would share it
with you all.

Regards
Alfie B

It does amaze me at petrol stations the number of people who fill up and just wander over to pay without locking the car first, despite it being a simple button press these days. Cobblers or not, people have been known to sneak into the back. They can't if its locked.

Pay at pump is the answer to that one - no need to leave the car .

An unlocked car , in the event of a fire on the forecourt , could be pushed out of the way by a good samaritan ; the locked one will burn .

Alfiebeard.....the man at the bucket......be careful next time you ask for fish'n'chips, pronounce the chips very very clearly.

As for the warnings and advice, they make a lot of sense....leave your car on a forecourt with the keys in or engine running.....gets nicked your insurance does not have to pay out. Best bet is take your purse or wallet out when are refuelling, open the fuel flap and then lock the car. Especially if you have kids in it. We had one here yesterday morning, woman puts child in car seat, starts up, remembers she forgot something, goes back inside leaving child in car, comes out to find..........fresh air, no car. I can only imagine the shock, but its opportunist. She was lucky, got car and child back not too long after.

I can imagine the tea-leaf's shock as he realised he had a screaming small humanoid in the back - "sod this for a game of skittles" his dulcet tones no doubt espoused
