I,too, have a black car (looks wonderful for about as long as it takes to put the bucket away, as someone said) and have had decent results with Autoglym Deep Shine polish, which is said to be specially formulated for black/dark coloured cars.

Autoglym for me too - 1 Black and 1 Silver. When both polished up to the same standard - the Black wins every time :D

Try AutoGlym Super resin polish. It's slightly abrasive so will over a few applications remove the swirls. Scratch-X is a bit of a pain to work with.

Hand polish with something like Farecla G10 or 3M handglaze, then wax with a good quality carnauba wax.. and a little tip here for a really glossy shine dip your polishing cloth in heating oil or paraffin ..slightly damp...add a little polish to the cloth..the G10 or 3M and go over the whole car again before waxing.. This is also a good tip for removing oxidisation from paint work.. on older cars..

Wear gloves when polishing with Xtractorfans oily rag, mineral oil is nasty (it can be very nasty) when worked into your skin.

Wow that has brought back memories. My father in the inter war years worked for his old regimental Colonel as his butler cum chauffeur cum general dogsbody and he used to tell me the only way to keep the body work of a car in showroom condition was to add a drop of paraffin to the final rinse water then leather off with a chamois "kept the old Lagonda in tip top condition lad" never worked with my Ford Consul though, perhaps Pink Paraffin was not the right stuff:lol:
