qvia dash cam ar 790 it came with a 3 hour chip, so purchased a 15 hour from tesco, as a some what senior citizen i had to have it wired in; it covers front and rear, for what it is worth i believe my driving has brought about a great deal of being aware of drivers on the road, with the sincere hope that it may reduce the insurance. no polariser, ardaelius.

Might have to fit a CPL. Just hardwired my new Blackvue DR450 cam to the SL and the reflection of the beige leather dash is horrendous. I have the same cam in the wife's Discovery but the dark grey interior does not pose a problem.

Yes, on the front BlackVue cam, for the last five years.

Don't get too hung up on the resolution - the bitrate affects the output far more, than the number of pixels.

My cam (400-II) is heavily modified (case and firmware), and runs at 15Mbps.

I use a CPL that came with the DOD but I don’t on the BlackVue.

As GLK says the main driver of image quality is bitrate and not resolution.

The other thing as well is it is better to have more bonnet & dashboard in view and less of the Sky (you’re not trying to film aircraft)

The bad thing about CPL’s is that they do affect night time recording quality. Not by much with the decent cameras. But some of the cheap ones with cheap sensors can be greatly affected.

No polariser on any of our 5 dash cams, may need one on mum's car due to beige dash but no big issue tbh.

Thanks for the feedback.

I got a decent Nisi one from china for £10 .. wasnt going to pay £39 for the Vico one, Nisi says his are genuine. Long long delivery, so none on at the moment and it looks fine.
Maybe on a bright summers day ot might be useful, but atm I wouldnt spend the time screwing it in.

Quite interesting you come back with the bitrate thing. Apparently this vico has a high bitrate.
Who knows at least the vids are .. good enough to read a number plate, so job done. :):)
