Last year my rainholes got blocked and water leaked into the front passenger side which is apparently common? The very nice man from the RAC unblocked the drainholes and said that I'll have to replace the pollen filter otherwise everytime you put the demister on it would mist up and then clear. The car has since had a service and supposedly a new pollen filter but the windscreen mists up when the demister is first turned on. My suspicious mind makes me think the pollen filter wasn't replaced. Any thoughts??

Take the filter out and have a look at it.

Its a white paper filter , if its not been replaced , it will look like it. When its out , you can either give it a clean and if its wet dry it , or just get a new one for about 15 squids or there abouts from the stealer.

Its in the near side footwell on the underside of the dash , three screws , the " swiss cheese " effect pannel comes down and the filter in in the plastic case on the nearside with the slide clips on it ...

It takes a couple of mins tops to change. :D

Fuzzer:

I guess you know JP's car. "2 minutes tops" ....er

On some, if you start out dirty, maybe. On others it may take a couple of hours to end up clean (not just hands!) and good-tempered.

Demisting needs outside air. Aircon use helps (and helps jump that "use it monthly" hurdle of advice in the hand-book!)

Pollen filter will dry off quick enough on its own, air passing through the thing almost constantly, normally only changed at bigger B service, or every 18K maint. service on older models.

Aircon tends to produce a short puff of mist on to the screen when restarting car, should shift quick enough, all that condensed moisture has to go somewhere and it does'nt all drip away under car through the drains
