Good evening!

I have a 2002, CDI220. Regularly serviced. Engine going well. No warning lights bu has developed (today) slow accleration.

No noises. No warning ligts. Cannot see any loose connections. Everything seems OK but slow accleration. Ticks over well.

Water and oil OK.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mike

THanks

Thanks for quick post. I have heard about problems with th emass flow sensor before so not surprised. Resetting autotransmission, will look up.

BTW I have tested acc out using the semimanual shift and that is no better. probably not autotransmission?

Regards

Mike

PS I have 2 more months warranty left so I will post back solution.

Mass Airflow sensor was replaced this am, took about 10 mins. Straightforward. Instructions are given in a recent posting. Car going really well again.

Learned that this is a common problem with Mercedes.

Have now had quite a few minor problems with this car. Less than my last BMW but too many to recommend Mercedes ownership.

My car has done 74,000, is carefully looked after and I wonder what will happen next!

Thanks for the info

Mike

i am getting poor acceleration on my 1998 TD sport, manual, the weird??? thing is that the gas pedal has about 1cm of travel before nothing happens not sure if the gas pedal has to be reset into the normal biting position?
any assistance guys? or is it just me being a new TD owner? but seems it takes awhile to accelerate :-(

I would suspect the MAS sensor in the first instance. MAS problems are not limited to MB

Yes MAS or MAF -Its the weakest part of the system. Starts telling the engine porkies about how much air is coming in and it all goes to pot.
Prices vary wildly. You can get new units off dealer, ebay etc or possibly pick up the innards (easy to swap apparently) from a bosch agent. Some people have had success cleaning them and you can sometimes test them by simply unplugging it and seeing if the running improves.
