View attachment 48810 Wife is always pinching the car so I bought myself this little thing, amazing little cars.

My little car is poorly, it broke down right outside a Halfords garage so with a little help we pushed it into the garage.
I left it with them, they phoned me the next morning saying it’s working fine but they replaced the front engine mount. I was handed a sheet with fault codes on it, the car went well for about 20 miles then broke down again. I noticed the difference with the new engine mount, much smoother ride.
The fault codes were P203B, P2056, P2031, P2033, B1017, B1060, B1011, and finally B1019.
The car starts fine but I have rows of dots on the dash where it usually states which gear the car is in and it won’t move. If I leave it a while I can restart the car and it will move but still with the rows of dots on the dash.
I’m going to have to book her into our regular garage and hope they can sort it all out. Meanwhile if anybody knows anything about the codes it would be much appreciated.

There's a few good smart specialists around, I'd do a search and find one of those.

I've also moved this to the engine section as a Mercedes :):D

The three bars are a gearbox issue.
On Roadsters it's commonly caused by chafing to the loom going to the gearbox where it goes past the intercooler. You need to look very carefully to see the damage. If you don't see damage look again! Normally this issue shows when driving on wet roads or through puddles.
It can also be caused by selector motor issues.
You may get away with a gearbox and or clutch reteach (requires Star). It will not be the sensor on the end of the gearbox - that is only used during the teach process.
I have a spare selection motor from a Roadster if needed.

Usually clearing codes will temporarily fix the issue to enable you to carry on (even a generic reader will do it even if the codes don't show).

Which model Smart is it? 450/451 or later?

It’s a late 2004 City Passion 61 Auto, a 450.

Prime candidate for the chafed wiring then. That would be my first port of call. Easy fix, just hard to find.
