Possible scammer re Merc Warranty

Hi , My wife received a telephone call yesterday from a girl reportedly from Mercedes Benz Warranty informing her the direct debit she pays has gone down and could she confirm bank details !!!!. My wife suspected it may be a scam as Direct debits can be altered by the recipient, my wife asked numerous questions to which the girl seemed to know the answers ,car model, e mail address how much the direct debit was for etc . when my wife asked for the web address she was told just look up Mercedes Benz.
So beware !!! I have Mercedes benz Warranty as well but have not received any info about a reduction in premiums

I try to make sure anything with sensitive info of mine goes only on the bonfire.

Hmmm. I'd take the details given, then look-up MB Warranty and give them a call to confirm

That question during a suspected scam conversation usually brings a long pause or else stops the call. Either way, it's proof.
Try it - you'll be surprised at the reaction.

I will say I went on WE BUY ANY CAR .com last week, that may be the connection as to the details of car ownership ?

another source yes. I always make sure when online to opt out of anything.
Ie we may provide (sell) your details on to anyone with a slight affiliate to the word car.

Speaking as an ex bank manager ......

I would cancel that particular direct debit and then call Mercedes and ask them to set it up again with a different reference.

I think you are fine as long as you gave them no bank details, or any other financial info - if you are concerned as above, cancel it and get MB Warranty to re-set it up.
