power problems

hi i have another problem with my car i have a e300td on a 210 chassis sometimes when you start it up it sounds like its not running on all cylinders it starts miss firing and chucks out smoke it even does this when starting it warm but if you turn it of then restart it its fine the other problem it has is sometimes when driving it it has no power its like the turbo is not working you can normaly hear and feel the turbo when it is and i get neither this can go on like this for a couple of days then it will be fine again for a couple of days then do it again there dont seem to be any sort of pattern if its starts and runs fine then it will carry on like that all the time the engine is running intill i turn it off again please help as its driving me nuts wayne

A few possible problems to check up on ..air flow meter MAF, aleays first, air in the fuel lines, replace the pipes... possible weak injector.. even worth checking if you have a partially blocked cat,,

Seconded here. however im not sure a partially blocked cat would clear by switching the engine off and on again, or that it would cause a misfire. maf would explain lack of power but for the misfire id be looking at air in the fuel, then injectors, speaking from personal experience

The MAF is a kind of key dependent thing, where as the CAT is not

A blocked cat will release the pressure build up when the engine is stopped.. and then run ok until it is pressurised again.. but its only a suggestion as something to check..

hi will the maf meter show up if i plug it in to the computer because if so i will get it plugged in to check it is that????

They seldom do show up on a diag check, sometimes you can just unplug the MAF and the car will run much better, and this is worth a try
