I cannot recall anyone who repairs them, though it should be possible

Euro Car Parts did offer refurbished units, but I could not recommend them.

Post a picture oil seals are usually cheap and easy repairs if its just oil leaking.
Theres no rocket science inside either but not normally fixable so easily at home.

There are some youtube videos for pump repairs

It would be nice if this is the case, a terrible waste for the sake of an oil seal.

We used to fix all these things years ago

These pumps do leak from the front housing, which is sealed with a very large diameter o-ring.
To replace this o-ring is not a simple job - for one thing the drive spigot on the front is a press fit on the shaft, and would need to be removed, certainly only possible to do off the car.
Then of course you need to source a suitable o-ring.
