Hi.

I have noticed ever since getting my w124, that whenever I release the cap on the fuel tank by I get a whooosh of pressure that is being released.

Is this normal?

can it be fixed if it is not normal?

Maybe your breather pipe is blocked. On my 123, the breather pipe comes down underneath the car and the end is located on passenger side near back wheel.

I must say that mine is the same...interestingly, when it whooshes, its letting aur out, not in....almost as if the tank is pressurised to aid in fuel delivery. AFAICR, this has always been the case on my W124 (ie from new) so I wouldnt worry about it.

i agree with spike that it is an inrush of air that causes the whooshing sound on opening the fuel filler cap.

the same happens on my car and is quitye normal-so no worries there.

 -apologies for the confusion,it is an outrush of air from the tank that causes the whooshing sound, as norman has pointed out.
